Final Countdown to National Women’s Enterprise Day on November 17th

New programme announced for ‘eve’ events on Wednesday, November 16th

Female entrepreneurs from all over Ireland are ‘counting down’ to the start of National Women’s Enterprise Day, which takes place on November 17th this year.
With a major conference in County Laois that day, the County and City Enterprise Board organisers have also confirmed that a social media workshop, mentoring  clinics and networking sessions will be taking place in the same venue on Wednesday, November 16th, the eve of National Women’s Enterprise Day.
The events on both days are taking place at the Heritage Hotel in Portlaoise and 200 female entrepreneurs from all over the country are expected to attend.
A social media workshop with Damien Mulley from Mulley Communications, is taking place at 3pm on the 16th November and this will be followed by the social networking case studies of four women in business. These are: Emer McCormack from Just-Eat.ie, Karen O’ Sullivan from the Talbot Hotel in Carlow, Lorna Sixsmith from Garrendenny Lane Interiors and Tara Wilson-Black from Irishwomeninbusiness.ie
A recent Facebook study from Mulley Communications, highlighted by the County & City Enterprise Boards this week, has found that people spend over  500 billion minutes a month on Facebook. In Ireland, it is estimated that there are roughly 1.3 million Irish users on Facebook.
Eamon Ryan, chair of organising committee and CEO Limerick City Enterprise Board said: “Social media sites are a valuable platform for communicating with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. By increasing their knowledge and understanding of social networking sites on National Women’s Enterprise Day, female entrepreneurs can strengthen their on-line presence through Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.”
Joan Burton T.D., Minister for Social Protection, is the Guest Speaker on November 16th, following a formal networking even facilitated by Mary Ann McDonagh of Payback Solutions. It will be an evening of high energy networking, focused on building professional networks that will benefit businesses.
Tickets for National Women’s Enterprise Day cost €100 each and are available to buy through www.nwed.ie. Co-funded by the Social Fund with support from the Department of Justice and Equality, through the Equality for Women Measure, the aim of National Women’s Enterprise Day is to give national recognition to the role of female entrepreneurship.
Updates on the conference are available from the National Women’s Enterprise Day Facebook page and from Twitter updates via www.twitter.com/nwed
