The National Women's Enterprise Day aims to inspire, activate and assist women across Ireland in running their own business.

National Women's Enterprise Day 2013 will take place on 16 & 17th October 2013 at Portlaoise Heritage Hotel, Porlaoise, Co Laois.

Successful businesswomen will share their experiences with start-up companies and fledgling businesses, at a two day event organised by Ireland’s 35 County and City Enterprise Boards.  The boards support around 12,000 women in business in this country.

The aim of ‘National Women’s Enterprise Day’ is to encourage even more women to set up their own businesses and to increase national recognition of the essential role played by Ireland’s female entrepreneurs. NWED 2013 is co-financed by the European Social Fund with support from the Department of Justice and Equality, through the Equality for Women initiative.

The importance of media, marketing and social media was highlighted during workshops for delegates, while advice, mentoring and networking were key elements of National Women’s Enterprise Day 2012.  A panel of experienced business mentors conducted over 200 one to one mentoring sessions during NWED 2012.

Comments received from delegates attending NWED 2012 included:

  • "Fantastic event.  I've been to them all and they just get better and better"
  • "An excellent event and well worth attending"
  • "Really enjoyed it, it was so well organised, informative and engaging"
